AFRICOMED, Frenzens: Championing Urology & Orthopaedic Surgeries at Bwindi Hospital

Bwindi Community Hospital, in collaboration with Dr. Forat’s AFRICOMED, Professor Geissbuhler’s Else-Kroner-Fresenius-Stiftung, and the Frenzens, have combated the scarcity by conducting specialized surgical camps. Saving Communities Through Nutrition Programs

It's a Thursday afternoon, and mothers with children admitted to the paediatric ward are being taught how to prepare nutritious food for their children. Kamara Daniel, the nutritionist, along with other ward nurses, teaches mothers in the hospital about nutrition. Bwindi Community Hospital Recognized as a Fistula Treatment Center by Ministry of Health

Over the last thirteen years, BCH has collaborated with Professor Verena Geissbuhler, a Senior Urogynecologist and Female Pelvic Floor Reconstruction Surgeon from Basel, Switzerland, to address the burden of those living with VVF, POP, and perineal tears. Friday, November 17, 2023 marked as a momentous occassion as Bwindi Community Hospital (BCH) celebrated 20 years of providing excellent health cares services. The event that was held at he Uganda Nursing School Bwindi sports grounds in Buhoma saw thousands of people from kigezi sub- region and beyond gather together and celebrate as one. 244 Graduate as Uganda Nursing School Bwindi Commemorates 10th Anniversary

On Friday, November 17, 2023, Uganda Nursing School Bwindi celebrated 10 years of traininng top-notch health care workers in the Kigezi sub-region. For this 3rd graduation, a total of 244 students were awarded with Diplomas and Certificates in Nurisng and Midwifery. Of these, 63.5% were females and 36.5% were males. 17.2% of the graduands received Diplomas while 82.8 received Certificates. 27.9% of the graduanda were midwives, and 72.1% Nurses. Read more...

The Hope Alliance eye care camp: Bringing vision and hope to the remote Bwindi

The Hope Alliance, a non-profit organization that provides vision care and eyeglasses to the under-served communities, partnered with Bwindi Community Hospital, a rural hospital that serves the remote people of Bwindi and the nearby areas, including the marginalized Batwa (pygmy) population, to provide free eye care services to the people. The Vesicovaginal fistula camp was held from the 20th -26th October 2019.A total of 41 women were operated on,where five had fistula repairs, 17 uterine prolapse and the rest with 3rd and 4th degree tears. Read more...
