Medical Superintendent, Bwindi Community Hospital, 2012
Household Survey 2011/2012
Every 2 years the hospital will conduct a household survey to assess the impact of its activities and help better plan for the next years.
This month we launched another community health survey that will enable capturing indicators used in Uganda Demographic health surveys.
60 interviewers have been trained to extensively carry out the exercise from 2,400 households that were sampled for the population of our catchment area.
This survey will generate results that are
comparable to other national and international surveys so as to determine key indicators of health including maternal health, HIV/AIDS & TB, Child health, infectious disease, food & nutrition, eQuality health insurance scheme, Hospital access, and sanitation.
Colgate University in the United States will assist in the analysis of this data. This will enable us to develop better and more effective interventions in our on-going aim to improve health and quality of life of the local people in this area.
Bravo to the entire BCH team, volunteers Prof. Ellen Percy Kraly and Justin Denney, who have contributed to the development of this project.
